

DARTMOUTH

Dartmouth
is situated just south of the English Riviera, across the River Dart from
Kingswear.
The Town lies at the mouth of the River Dart which is navigable for eight miles
to Totnes.
The beautiful river provides fascinating and continually changing types of
activities with yachts
ferries, fishing boats and pleasure cruises, and views of the Steam Railway at
Kingswear.
It is an ideal destination at any time of the year - narrow streets, medieval
houses, shops, quays, restaurants and cafes and outstanding views.
The surrounding lush Devon countryside is noted for it's steep sided valleys,
rounded green
hills, beautiful vegetation, N.T. Coastline and natural wildlife.
The South Hams are at the most southerly point of Devon and enjoys one of the
mildest climates in the UK. Spring arrives early, the summers are usually
long, warm autumns and mild winters - a place to visit at any time of the year.

Kingswear to Paignton Steam Railway
The pretty village of Kingswear can be reached by ferry from
Dartmouth. From Kingswear the Steam Railway will take you
through beautiful Devon countryside to Paignton, from where it
is possible to visit Paignton Zoo, Torquay and Goodrington.
From Kingswear it is only a few miles by road to the historic
harbour of Brixham.
Torquay may be reached by Passenger Ferry from Dartmouth.

Dartmouth Central Harbour has rich naval history and offers a wide range of
boating activities
including it's annual Regatta which takes place in August with the
spectacular 'Red Arrows.
With it's steep wooded valleys, and pretty pastel houses clinging to the
hillsides, Dartmouth boasts the prettiest town in England.
The area is designated an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers a
Walker's paradise, bird watching, fishing, yachting, horse riding and golfing
with it's Championship course.

Nearby
Blackpool Sands is just a 10 minute drive from the house.
The
beach is set in a sheltered, unspoilt bay, amongst evergreens and pine trees &
is cleaned daily during the summer. Picnic area and also 'The Venus' cafe within
the beach
area.
Also beautiful beaches may be found at East Portlemouth,which is situated on the
opposite side of the estuary to Salcombe.
East Portlemouth catches the sun well and it is an enjoyable car ride through
the beautiful quiet South Hams countryside..
Further afield are the beaches at Bigbury, and also within the
Torbay area:-Torquay, Goodrington & Paignton.
